Press releases are very helpful when you are trying to increase your website traffic or get free web site traffic. What is a press release? It is an announcement of a newsworthy event and in internet marketing it usually is a product launch or an upgrade to a product. It can also be an announcement of a promotion within your company or anything that you think can draw attention to your product or website. Press releases show up very well in the search engines and we all know how important to increasing website traffic the search engines are. Some important things you should note when using a press release include:

Write a headline that will grab the reader
Your headline should be something that catches a person’s attention and gets them to actually want to read the text of the release. Try to stay away from the same old boring stuff like “New Book Tells You How to Increase Website Traffic” You are not only trying to impress or get a reader’s attention you are also trying to get the editor or reporters attention. Try something like “Why Increasing Your Website Traffic is Essential”. As you see in the second title you are answering a question that many people need the answer to.

Send the press release as a word document
Many people try to send their press releases as PDF documents and then wonder why their press release is not accepted by an editor. The reason why is because PDF documents require special software to copy. Many editors do not have the time to print out your press release then retype it. If the release is in a Microsoft Word document, at the worst it can be copied and pasted to another source.

Include a photo of the product
Like the saying goes ”A picture speaks a thousand words” and including a photo gives the editor an idea of the product and also allows him to make changes to the press release to better describe the product.
Last, but not least, remember to include your contact information on the press release including phone number and mailing address. This helps the people working on your press release to be able to contact you with questions.
